Anyone remember Sven Svensrud?
He  accompanied Oyvnd Berg over from Norway in 1967 and was to  have trials at the Old Meadowbank practices with a view to signing for Tigers. If few had heard of Berg then it would be fair to say NO ONE had ever heard of Svenrud. sadly this also applied to the immigration officials who met him off the boat. He was refused entry to the UK and returned to Norway and little was heard of him again
From a trawl of Norwegian records he took part in the 1966 Norwegian Final  finishing 8th with 8 points, 1 behind Faafeng and Syrrist and 2 behind Berg. Possibly this was the meeting where Ian Hoskins signed Oyvind Berg. Kjell Gimre, who later joined the Tigers rode in this meeting but failed to score.
Svensrud qualified for 1968 Nordic Final from a Norwegian meeting held in October 1967 but for whatever reason didn't take his place.
