Nowadays it is unusual for riders to ride for just one team in a season, never mind spending a career at one track. Doug Nicolson looks at those guys who were loyal and who were

Norman Storer stayed with the promotion when Long Eaton moved to Leicester ahead of the 1968 season so could well be considered a One Team man.

Ronnie Moore went home to New Zealand at the end of the 1972 season but  returned to the UK in 1974 to ride for New Zealand in the World Team Cup and had two "warm up" meetings for Coventry at Belle Vue and Hull in early August, scoring 11 points from ten rides in his very brief spell as a Bee.

Ken Wakefield retired at the end of 1970 but was persuaded to give it another go by Long Eaton and rode in just one BL2 meeting for them  at Romford  where he scored three points from a race win in his fourth outing, having been pointless in the preceding three races. He also rode in a few challenge meetings  but he is best remembered for his time in Cradleys green and white.

Mike Keen started his career with Trevor Redmond's St Austell in 1963 but decided against going "black" with the PL in 1964, throwing his lot in with Swindon in the NL, riding for them continuously until 1975 with his loyal service being rewarded by a testimonial.

Bernie Leigh didnt really leave Reading - they left him by taking a year out while their new track at Smallmead was built, leaving Bernie to find a new and temporary home at Swindon in 1974 before resuming his loyal stint wearing the winged wheel.

Mike Watkin looked to  have retired when the Newcastle licence went south to Reading in 1971 but was persuaded back as Barrows non league riding coach. However when the Bombers once of Romford, found they were in for a short sitting at West Ham they moved up to Cumbria with Mike once again seeing some league action.

Ian Turner dropped down to Kings Lynn's sister track Boston for a short spell in 1980 before hanging up his leathers.
