As we approach the sixtieth anniversary of the tragic night at Old Meadowbank when Peter Craven sustained fatal injuries, its a poignant thought that it could have been different had New Cross not closed for the final time in summer 1963,

The fixture list had them at Edinburgh in a  Provincial League meeting  on Saturday September 21. Had this taken place then Edinburgh certainly wouldn’t have invited Belle Vue to come north for a challenge meeting the night before.
